Theatre and Performance Studies Research Seminar: Laura Ginters & Paul Dwyer
This Friday’s research seminar features presentations from Laura Ginters and myself, Paul Dwyer — both of us taking the opportunity to road-test some arguments for the papers we will be giving at the annual conference of the International Federation for Theatre Research, to be held in Shanghai in July. As part of the general program of the conference, responding to the theme “Theatre, Performance and Urbanism”, Laura will be presenting her research into the life and career of Kate Howarde [sic], a celebrated actor and entrepreneur who worked in Australia from the late 19thcentury through to the 1930s. My paper, on the politics of storytelling and the dramaturgy of documentary theatre, will be presented as part of the IFTR’s working group on “Translation, Adaptation and Dramaturgy”.
